The anticipation of summer is in the air! Planning time at the lake can be one of the most relaxing experiences ever. Temperatures start moving toward the 80’s for the highs and in the 60’s for the lows. It is not uncommon to have several days of rain, which does help maintain a good lake level.
The biggest organized event in April 2014 is the Red Fern Festival held in Tahlequah. The festival celebrates the novel “Where the Red Fern Grows” written by Wilson Rawls a Tahlequah area native. The two-day festival includes BBQ and Chili cook-offs, a car show, arts and crafts along with live music and plenty of other events. What a great transition from April to May 2014, giving a terrific kick off to summer season at the lake. Go to redfernfestival.com for a complete list of details.
